Here we will consider scattering at small angles where the length scale probed is generally 10Å and greater (sinθ = λ∕2d) where d is the length scale. We restrict our coverage to dilute particulate systems, whether of polymer coils in solution, or of colloidal objects of various shapes. Since we have the basic equation for the scattered amplitude as a function of the location of the scatterers, we can develop exact expressions for the expected dependence of the scattered amplitude(intensity) on scattering vector. For the polymer coil, we use a Gaussian distribution of scatterers, for instance.
