Welcome to the Tech for Conservation group at Yale!

We are a group of Professors, Students (Graduate and Undergraduate), and Researchers with strong technical backgrounds (typically from Engineering, Computer Science, or Statistics) who are passionate about using their technical skills to help push forward research and practice in conservation, conservation biology, ecology, and environmental biology. We currently have a number of projects in their early stages, but have many more projects and interested collaborators than we can currently support. So we need you! Check out the Opportunities page for more detail.

Our main research directions are currently:

  • Application of Machine Learning techniques to classify plant specimens within an herbarium at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History
  • Application of UAVs in wildlife tracking
