Graduate Dissertation Wins First APS Andreas Acrivos Award
Vittorio Cristini Ph.D. '99 has been selected to be the first recipient
of the American Physical Society's Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award
in
Fluid Dynamics for his Ph.D. dissertation "Drop Dynamics in Viscous
Flows."
The selection committee singled out Dr. Cristini's dissertation for its "important theoretical and numerical contributions to the description and understanding of drop dynamics and breakup in laminar and turbulent flows." Dr. Cristini's faculty advisor was Prof. Michael Loewenberg.
The award includes an honorarium and will be presented in November at the APS-DFD meeting in Washington, DC.
