An honor and an opportunity:
    The Yale Committee on Junior Faculty Fellowships in the
    Natural Sciences has voted to award Prof. Yiorgos Makris, EE,
    a Fellowship for 2004-2005. Junior Faculty Fellowships in the
    Natural Sciences are awarded to recognize the outstanding
    nature of the recipient's work and free him or her from teaching
    and other academic duties for an academic year, so that they
    may concentrate on research.

Entrepreneurship as a campus-wide activity: 
    The deadline is Dec. 12 for submitting a proposal to the Kauffman
    Foundation for $50,000 for a project to sustain entrepreneurship
    education as a campus-wide activity. Get the details from

    St. Louis, MO, to work on developing large bandgap X-ray and
    gamma-ray detectors for application in space-borne X-ray and

    -Sept. 29, Dr. Bertrand Reulet, Associate Research Scientist
    in AP, and Mrs. Noelle Reulet welcomed a daughter, Marguerite
    Marie Julia Suzanne, into their family. Sons Gaspard and
    Prosper are almost seven and five.

    -Oct. 9, Prof. Robert Schoelkopf, AP & Phys, and
    Mrs. Inger Schoelkopf welcomed a son, Jonathan Holm,
    into their family. Their older son, Nicholas Owen, is
    now two and a half.

    -Oct. 13, Dr. Michael Mason, Postdoctoral Associate in AP,
    and Mrs. Lori Mason welcomed son, Maxwell David, into
    their family. They also have a daughter, Victoria, who
    is eleven years old.
