Funded again and will involve undergraduates:
Prof. Kumpati Narendra, EE, has received $400,000 from NSF
for three years (until 2004) for research on "Identification and
Control of Dynamical Systems Using Neural Networks." Since 1992,
Prof. Narendra has received ~$1,800,00 from NSF for research
on the application of neural networks to pattern recognition,
identification, and control. Undergraduates who would like to
participate in neural networks research during the summer
should get in touch with Prof. Narendra without delay.

AIChE announces 2001-02 officers:
President: Barclay Satterfield, TD '02
Vice President: Minh Vuong, TD '02
Secretary: Mary Lind, JE '02

YSEA-Undergrad seeks mentors:
The YSEA-Undergraduate chapter wishes to provide mentors
for its members. The Electrical Engineering mentor is Swami
Kumaresan '00. Needed are mentors for majors in Chemical,
Biomedical, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering.
(Alumni mentors are already in place for the sciences).

NSBE-Yale will hold meetings weekly:
The Yale chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers
will meet every Wednesday at 5.30 pm in the Law School Dining
Hall. NSBE-Yale is busy planning how to participate in National
Engineers Week in February and discussing an engineering
competition.

Demolition and construction in Dunham:
Expect some noise on the ground floor of Dunham the week of
Oct. 22, as the walls between Rooms 108, 110, 112, and 114 come
down to make way for a lab for Ms. Natalie Jeremijenko, ME.
Electrical rewiring may result in temporary power interruptions.
