YSEA annual dinner:
    Reservations are requested by April 25, 2-4220, for the annual
    Yale Science and Engineering Association dinner April 30
    in the Presidents Room, Woolsey Hall
        (students on the Yale meal contract, $10 /will be refunded at dinner/,
        Yale faculty and staff, $30 per person
        YSEA member & spouse, $40 per person

    YSEA will confer their Award for Distinguished Service to
    Industry, Commerce or Education on George M. Milne Jr. '65,
    retired Pfizer Corporate Officer, the Award for Advancement
    of Basic and Applied Science on Prof. Edward Cussler '61 BE ChE,
    professor at of the University of Minnesota, and the Award
    for Meritorious Service to Yale University on Prof. Pierre Hohenberg,
    Deputy Provost for Science and Technology and Adjunct Professor
    of Physics and Applied Physics.
 
    Also honored will be retiring Engineering and Science faculty,
    including Prof. Ira Bernstein, ME, and Prof. Donald
    Crothers '58, Chem & ChE.
 
2003 Collegiate Inventors competition:
    Undergraduates and gradudate students now compete and receive
    prizes in separate categories. There are two $25,000 Graduate prizes
    and two $15,000 Undergraduate prizes. The grand prize for an
    individual or team is $50,000 (plus $10,000 for the faculty adviser).
    Deadline: June 1.
    Sponsors: Hewlett Packard Invent, Corning, Goodyear, and U.S.
    Patent and Trademark Office.
 
    Within the last decade, Yale students have won in
    1993 (Bing-long Zhang '90 M.S., '94 Ph.D., Adviser: Prof. T.P. Ma, EE);
    1996 (Gregg Favalora '96, Adviser: Prof. Peter Kindlmann, EE);
    1998 (Jin-Ping Han '98 M.S, Adviser: Prof. T. P. Ma); and in
    1999 (team led by Jennifer Davis '81, Adviser: Dr. Nathan Delson, ME).
