For outstanding professional contribution: 
    Prof. Joseph Pignatello, EnvE/ChE, has been selected by 
    the Journal of Environmental Quality (JEQ) to receive the 
    2002 Editor's Citation for Excellence in Manuscript Review 
    Award, given for outstanding professional contribution in 
    reviewing papers submitted in 2001 for publication in JEQ. 
    Only six reviewers were honored with this award.
 
Yale Engineering Student Council, YESC, met:  
    Twenty YESC members met Jan. 30 in the new Engineering 
    Student Center to begin the ratification process of a YESC 
    constitution that was proposed by the Undergraduate Advisory 
    Committee. The YESC meeting was chaired by Josh Buck '04 ChE.
 
Pratt & Whitney to recruit Feb. 7: 
    The Engineering Director of Pratt & Whitney East Hartford, 
    Mr. John Mendillo, will be recruiting engineering majors
    for summer internships at Pratt & Whitney and Sundstrom.

Security clearance needed, so sign up ASAP: 
    A field trip is scheduled to the Sikorsky facilities in Stamford 
    for Fri., Feb. 28. Students will tour facilities, attend a panel 
    discussions with engineers, and be treated to lunch. Security

National Engineering Week calling all students: 
    Join in planning some outreach projects for National Engineers 
    Week, Feb.16-22, for New Haven area school students.

Make a lifelong difference to some lives: 
    Whether or not you wish to apply, become informed about 
    Teach For America (Mon., Feb. 3, 7:00 pm, 55 Whitney Ave., 
    Career Services, Room 369), the national corps of college 
    graduates who choose to teach for two years in urban and rural 
    public schools (and will form a growing community of informed 
    leaders in the effort to educate America). The new teachers 
    receive a salary plus $9,450 for repayment of educational loans. 
 
Sandia's Info Session/Pizza Party attracted 62: 
    During their week on campus, Sandia representatives interviewed 
    more than 50 undergraduate and graduate Engineering students 
    for summer internships and permanent positions.
