Our fourth IEEE SISC Ed Nicollian Award!

Chun-Chen “Frank” Yeh, EE, advisee of Prof. T.P. Ma,
has won the 2005 Ed Nicollian Award for his
   presentation of “SONOS-type Non-volatile Memory
with All Silicon Nitride Dielectric Stack.” This
award is given to the best student presentation at
the IEEE Semiconductor Interface Specialists Conference,
SISC. The Award includes a check (wrote Yeh to his
Adviser and lab colleagues: “…Without your continuous
assistance, I wouldn't have made it. Just want to let
you know that this award belongs to you, and most
important of all, SO DOES THE CHECK! I'll arrange a
lunch or dinner and we can celebrate it together”).
Of eleven Ed Nicollian Awards given to date, four
   were won by Prof. Ma’s advisees--in 2005, 2004, 2002,
   and 2000.

Take a closer look at General Electric:
Mr. Eric Luftig, Healthcare Marketing Manager,
GE Advanced Materials, Silicones, will brief
   undergraduates about employment and graduate
   students about internships at GE.
Wed., Feb. 22, 4:00 pm, Engineering Student
Center in Dunham. Bring a resume.

Challenge for our grad students and postdocs:
You are invited to design a summer research
project for a New Haven high school junior
based on your research. One project will be selected,
and high school juniors will compete to work for
8 weeks in your lab with you as mentor. At the
end of the summer, you and your mentee will each
receive a $2,000 honorarium along with a plaque
and other recognition. The student will then write
up his/her summer research project and enter it in
high school science fairs. The deadline for submission
of the summer project proposal is Tues., Feb. 28.
If this pilot program works well, more projects will
be available in the future. For specifics, contact
   <eric.stern@yale.edu>

Engineering Library workshop:
