Summer Options for Engineering Majors:
Come
Tues., Feb. 15, 5:00 pm, to the Engineering
Student Center (Dunham) to find out from Mr. John Bau,
Career Services, where to work, intern, or study this
coming summer, says Engineering Student Council
president Gary Green '06.
Yale Engineering Design Team projects:
After
the resounding success of "Yale Junk Wars"
YEDT is calling on students to participate in other
projects.
The Faculty Adviser is Prof. David LaVan, ME.
YEDT Biodiesel Project:
Coordinator Sean Mehra '08.
Objective:
Convert the engine of a used car to run on
vegetable oil, then convert one Yale Transit Bus to
run on vegetable oil. <sean.mehra@yale.edu>
YEDT Programming Group:
Max Sklar '06.
Work
on a computer simulation of a 2-dimensional
game that involves natural selection of better
artificial
intelligence. <max.sklar@yale.edu>
YEDT Wheelchair Project:
Daniel Wiznia '06.
Develop
a non-profit business plan for wheelchair design
and service, apply for a patent for a technical
integration
of a computer with the mechanical wheelchair system.
<daniel.wiznia@yale.edu>
YEDT Flying Group: James
Salzano '06.
Design
and build a human-powered helium-filled balloon.
<james.salzano@yale.edu>
YEDT Communications and
Product Research: Jerry Morones '06.
Work
with simple analog circuits to transmit audio on
FM and refine the technology so that it can be
integrated into
wireless devices.<jerry.morones@yale.edu>
For women only:
The
Connecticut Trails Girl Scouts are inviting a 5-woman Yale
engineering student team to compete in a "box
(Girl Scout
cookies) building competition" against other teams
of college
women in the Meriden Square Mall Sat., March 12.
Girls Scouts will observe the activity and later ask
the women engineering students questions about studying
engineering. Get the specifics from Ms. Nancy Gianetti,
