Tau Beta Pi featured "Engineering
disasters":
Nov. 17, Tau Beta Pi attracted a good
crowd (including
our Business Manager who has an engineering
background)
to the Engineering Student Center for a showing
of a film
on engineering disasters. Pizza added to the interest
of the evening.
Y-IEEE sponsored HALO-2:
In order to promote dialogue among
students from all
classes, Y-IEEE organized a video game
competition
(played on an XBOX Video Game Console) Nov. 18
in
Davies Auditorium. "The game's combination
of spectacular
graphics, interactive gameplay, and
team-building
experience coupled with Davies Auditorium's
gigantic
screen drew over 25 people to the event, including a
representative from Microsoft [HALO-2 is produced by
Microsoft]," said Jose Fuentes '06, the
Y-IEEE Vice Chair
who organized the event. The winning team
consisted of
Chris Oropena, Paul Chikosh, Gregory Thomas '07,
and
Steven Sun '05. The feedback from the players
was so positive
that Y-IEEE is considering a series of
"HALO Fridays" and
maybe even opening a tournament to the entire student body.
