After logging in the computer, from start -> programs -> multisim2001, we can find the software for our first lab session.

The central part of the screen is the drawing plane for our circuit. We can find many kinds of elements in the left bar, such as power source, resistors, and diodes. The right bar contains function generator, oscilloscope, distortion analyzer and other useful equipment.
We may need a certain kind of power source. Just click the symbol for power source. Then we will get a more detailed chart.

Double clicking the kind of source we want, it will show up at the edge of the drawing plane. We can move the power source, and place it anywhere in the plane. Moreover, we may change the parameter for the power source by double clicking its default parameter. In the similar way, the oscilloscope and distortion analyzer can be put on the plane from the right bar.
We need to choose proper parameters for resistors or diodes. Single clicking the element, we can browse the parameters and select the one we want.

After clicking the “OK” button, we will find the device on the drawing plane already.
We may rotate the elements to construct our circuit. Just right click the device or equipment, we can find rotation demand in the menu popping out. The online help is also in the menu. It is helpful if we want to know the details of the elements.
It is easy to place wires between the devices. Just click at one port and drag the mouse to another port and click again. Finally, we can draw our circuit and connect oscilloscope and distortion analyzer to it.

The circuit should be run before oscilloscope or distortion analyzer show results. We need turn on the switch at the upper-right corner. After turning off the switch, double clicking the analyzer, we can get the result we are interested.
