Dr. Tolga Kaya has been a post-doctoral associate in the Koser Group, Yale University since 2007. He received BS, MS and PhD degrees in Electronics Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul, Turkey. Prior to joining the Koser Lab, Dr. Kaya was a research and teaching assistant at ITU (1999-2007), a consultant at Brightwell Corp. (2007), Istanbul, a senior VLSI analog design engineer and project coordinator at Microelectronics R&D Company, Istanbul (2000-2006), and a visiting assistant in research (VAR) at Yale University, CT (2004-2005).
His research interests in electrical engineering are analog VLSI circuit design and testing, MEMS design, fabrication and testing, micro energy scavengers and passive/active RFID systems. His research is currently involved in biomedical engineering where bacterial hydrodynamics are studied under various shear flow regimes to enlighten the bacterial infections in catheterized patients.
Dr. Kaya has recently been selected the top outstanding young persons by Turkey branch of JCI (Junior Chamber International). He received the SIEMENS Excellence Award, "Best MS Study" with his MS Thesis in 2002. Dr. Kaya was awarded with a 6 months post-doctoral fellowship in 2008. He also obtained 6 months scholarship from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey to pursue research at Yale University in 2005. He has currently 3 journal and 6 conference papers. He was a peer reviewer for several conferences. He took an efficient role on supervision of more than 20 senior and several master projects. He has also assisted Digital Electronics, Analog Electronics Circuits, and VLSI courses.
