Rezzan was born in Antakya, Turkey on November
02, 1982. She
took her B.S. degree from Koc University Physics Department in 2005.
During her undergraduate years,
she joined various projects in Optics and Photonics under supervisee of
Prof. Serpenguzel and Prof. Sennaroglu. Currently she has been
working in Prof. Koser's Group in MEMS design and characteristic
project.
Rezzan's research centers around the dynamics of nonmagnetic particles immersed in a ferrofluid. Ferrofluis are colloidal
suspensions of magnetic particles in a liquid either aqueous or oil.
When non-magnetic particles are suspended in a carrier ferrofluid, they
acquire an induced magnetic moment which is equal (and opposite) to the
magnetic moment of the magnetic fluid volume they displace. A magnetic field applied externally results in a nonzero magnetic field gradient
which is actually responsible for the dynamics of nonmagnetic
particles. In a flowing fluid, simultaneous action of the magnetic and
hydrodynamic forces are responsible for the dynamics of particles. |
