Post-doctoral position in microbiology: Hydrodynamics of Bacterial
Swimming
We are looking for a post-doctoral
research associate for one and possibly two years to work on an
exciting project about bacterial hydrodynamics. This work will be based
on our recent discoveries about the hydrodynamics of bacteria swimming
near surfaces and has the potential to make a series of significant and
fundamental contributions to the understanding of microbiology and
pathogenesis as a whole. This is a great opportunity for any
self-motivated researcher interested in an interdisciplinary research
project involving microbiology, physics, computer vision and numerical
modeling. The ideal applicant will have expertise in microscopy, computerized imaging and image analysis techniques, microbiology,
biomedical engineering or a related field. The candidate should be able to work
independently and is expected to develop numerical models of bacterial locomotion
under various conditions. We also expect that the candidate will train
the graduate and undergraduate students in our group.
The applicants should have a graduate training in
engineering, microbiology, cellular biology or physics, and must have completed (or
to be completed soon) the PhD degree. Good oral and written
communications in English are essential. MATLAB experience and image analysis background is a definite plus. Yale University offers
competitive salaries to post doctoral researchers in
internationally recognized research facilities. Interested applicants
should send immediately a cover letter, CV and three references to
Professor Koser (hur.koser@yale.edu) for
further evaluation.
