Leidong was born in Jiangsu, China, in 1978. He got his B.S. degree in Material Science from Fudan University (Shanghai, China) in 2001. He has been working in Professor Koser's Group on ferrohydrodynamics and ferrofluidic Lab-on-a-chip applications.
Leidong's research interest lies in the modeling and testing of ferrofluids on both macro and micro scales. He showed ferrofluids can be pumped in closed-channel geometries using spatially-traveling, sinusoidally time-varying magnetic fields. Currently, he's interested in pathogen detection schemes and micro-mixing methods based on ferrohydrodynamic pumping.
