Creating a Website

Several Web server systems are available for publishing your lab's data, your personal information, or course-related materials. Also see "Facilities & Services".

www.yale.edu (elsinore)
This is Yale's main institutional server.  It runs Netscape's server software in a Sun/Solaris environment.  Accounts are available to campus departments and organizations.  Apply to ITS through the Yale Webmaster page.
classes.yale.edu
This is the principal "courseware" server for Yale College, including Engineering.  All Yale College and Graduate School courses have web sites on this server.  The officially designated faculty in charge of the course automatically receives access via his or her NetID.  See more information at classes.yale.edu.
pantheon.yale.edu
Faculty, staff, and students all get "Pantheon" Unix accounts when they enroll for campus email service.  The Pantheon is a cluster of Sun Solaris systems.  You log in to {minerva, mars, morpheus, mercury}.yale.edu using SSH or Kerberized Telnet.  Each user has a personal web space available as http://pantheon.yale.edu/~netid if you set up a public_html directory with appropriate content.  See http://pantheon.yale.edu/help/web/info.html.
www.eng.yale.edu (entity)
Entity is the home of the Engineering departmental web pages.  It is a Windows 2000 server running IIS v. 4 web software, with FrontPage extensions.  Engineering labs and other activities are welcome to create their own webs here.  We support Microsoft's FrontPage software for web creation and editing. Contact EIT for an account.
