My work deals with first principles calculations of the physics of condensed matter systems, particularly solid state systems.

My current focus is on optical properties and photoluminescence in molecules and solid-state defects.

I have studied dislocations in metals and semiconductors, reactions in solutions, surfaces and interfaces, and the mechanical and electronic properties of nanowires and nanotubes.
