Prof. Firoozabadi has been honored with the 2000 Reservoir Engineering Award and the 2002 Anthony Lucas Gold Medal and the 2004 John Franklin Carll  Award from the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

The Lucas Gold Medal is highest technical award in the field of petroleum engineering. 

The Society of Petroleum Engineers, with a membership of over 65,000, is one of the founding members of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (AIME).
