Choosing a Major
Faculty advisers help each student develop a program of study according to the student's interests.
All Engineering majors have to take introductory math and science courses, which means that students know that they are taking the required courses while deciding on a major.
Each department/program has its own Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) who helps every student to develop the most appropriate program of study for him or her and counsels students throughout the academic year. Students can major in:

Computer Science
Students graduate with one of three degrees:
ABET-Accredited Bachelor of Science
(ABET-Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). This is the most structured and demanding engineering degree at quality engineering programs in the country. Students acquire engineering knowledge in breadth (for flexibility for a fast-changing technological world) and depth (for understanding the subtleties of engineering design).
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Sciences
This degree allows a wider choice of non-engineering courses, because it requires fewer technical courses. Students can choose either for breadth of engineering knowledge or depth and, often, are able to graduate with a double major (e.g. mechanical engineering / economics, electrical engineering / computer science).
Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Sciences
This degree provides an excellent preparation for careers in medicine, law, business, government, journalism, and technical writing, because it allows most flexibility in selecting of both technical and non-technical courses.
Graduate Level Courses
Undergraduates may take graduate courses, if they receive the permission of the instructor and the appropriate DUS.
