Non-Degree Program (DSR)
Admission requirements are the same as for the regular degree programs.
The Division of Special Registration (DSR) allows students to take graduate courses or to do research without enrolling in a graduate degree program. Review Course descriptions
Special Students
An individual may take individual courses for credit as a Special Student. If a Special Student is later admitted into a graduate degree program, he or she may receive tuition credit for work done while in the DSR program.
Participation in the DSR program does not automatically qualify a student for the graduate degree program.
Whether taking the course for credit or auditing, Special Students are charged tuition per course. For the 2005-06 academic year, tuition is $3,500 per course. There is no financial assistance for Special Students.
Visiting Affiliated Research Graduate Students
Advanced graduate students who are degree candidates at other universities may do full-time dissertation research, take courses, and do research at Yale as Visiting Affiliated Research Graduate Students. They are charged full tuition.
In 2005-06, tuition per term is $14,400 and for the summer only it is $878. Some tuition assistance may be available based on need. Visiting Affiliated Research Graduate Students are not eligible for fellowships or teaching or research assistantships.
Visiting Assistants in Research
A student who is a graduate degree candidate at another university may wish to do research under the supervision of a Yale faculty member. If a Yale faculty member is willing to accept and support him or her and if the Director of Graduate Studies and the appropriate Associate Dean of the Graduate School accept the student's proposal, the student will be appointed a Visiting Assistant in Research.
In 2005-06, the fee per term for a Visiting Assistant in Research is $1,756 and the fee for summer 2006 will be $878.
