Irreversible Thermodynamics

Use of laser beams of different wavelengths is proposed to measure molecular and thermal diffusion coefficients in multicomponent mixtures. The theory is consistent with thermodynamics of irreversible processes(Haugen and Firoozabadi, Journal of Physical Chemistry B,2006).

Thermogravitational column designed and built at Yale and used in measuring the Soret coefficients in binary hydrocarbons of different molecular shape and size (Leahy-Dios and Firoozabadi, Journal of Physical Chemistry B,2006,in review).
